Only 50m from the front door of Portobello By The Sea is the Sunshine Coast's best kept secret - Dicky Beach. Named after the wreck of the S.S. Dicky which ran aground in 1892, Dicky Beach is excellent for both swimming and surfing, safe and pleasant in almost all weather conditions.

The beach is patrolled seven days a week and boasts a fabulous beachside park with children's playground, picnic facilities and a skateboard/roller blade bowl.

The beach is ideal for walking - stretching from Moffat Headland in the south to Point Cartwright in the north. With a nature reserve for bushwalking, natural rock pools and Currimundi Lake close by, Dicky Beach truly is a holiday-makers paradise. There is also great rock, beach and estuary fishing all year.

Dicky Beach is located only 1 hour north of Brisbane airport, and 30 minutes south of the Maroochy airport . Hire cars and door-to-door bus services are available from both airports and can be arranged by our tour desk at the time of booking. Portobello By The Sea is centrally located making access to all the major tourist attractions on the Sunshine Coast just a short drive away. Only 20 minutes to the world famous Australia Zoo, or 20 minutes to Underwater World where you can be surrounded by giant sharks, rays and other fearsome animals. The Tour Desk at Portobello By The Sea is open every day and we are more than happy to plan and book your tours and attractions for you.
