Horizon Festival of Arts & Culture

When: 25 August to 3 September, 2017
Where: Sunshine Coast

The Sunshine Coast’s multi-arts festival is set to deliver more than 200 events spread across venues on the Sunshine Coast for ten days.

Horizon celebrates all aspects of arts with visual art, film, literature, performance, street art, comedy, music, theatre and new media. It brings together local artists alongside Australian and international guests, building the capacity of local creative talent with unique arts experiences.

Small towns such as Eumundi and Maleny in the Sunshine Coast region will set up Art Streets, plus there will be Art Trails to explore. Caloundra will contribute with the Caloundra CBD Street Art Trail.

Caloundra Arts Centre Association is running three bespoke exhibitions demonstrating how lost arts and crafts including lacemaking, embroidery, spinning and weaving can be revived and reinvigorated in a contemporary context.

Artworks by forty finalists from across the country will be showcased in a stunning exhibition at Caloundra Regional Gallery for the ten days of the festival.

In performing arts there will be A Night with Opera Queensland on Tuesday 29 August at The Events Centre Caloundra. An extraordinarily moving dance theatre piece, Vincent, about the man behind the brush of Vincent Van Gogh will also take place at The Events Centre on Saturday 2 September.

For the children there will be the mini musical production of We’re Going On A Bear Hunt at the Event Centre on Friday 25 August. For more information and tickets see The Events Centre Caloundra.
