Take a drive into the scenic Glass House Mountains during your stay in Caloundra. These iconic “odd-shaped” series of mountains to the west of Caloundra make for spectacular photo opportunities and picture-postcard views.
The scenery will unfold before your eyes as you drive into a series of 14 mountains, including Mt Tibrogargan, Mt Beerwah Mt Coonowrin and Wild Horse Mountain.
There are a series of walking trails with scenic lookouts such as the Glass House Mountains Lookout Circuit, Trachyte Circuit and Wild Horse Mountains Track. Or for the adrenalin junkies there are rock climbing adventures at Mt Tibrogargan and Mt Ngungun.
Drive up to The Glass House Mountains Lookout on Glass House to Woodford Road for the best panoramas of the 14 mountains. After you have finished your walk around the Glass House Mountains Lookout Circuit or you have had enough of the gorgeous views, head down the hill to the Lookout Cafe for a bite to eat or a coffee, where the views are equally as splendid.
Otherwise just enjoy the drive as the roads take you through strawberry, pineapple and macadamia nut farms and little townships dotted throughout the region with majestic views of the mountains through your windscreen.
You can download a walking trails map or a driving map and set off for a day trip with stops along the way to take in this scenically abundant region. The Glass House Mountains Circuit Drive is around a 30 minute drive from Caloundra, off the Bruce Highway.
